'Faith without works is dead'
published: Wednesday | October 15, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

Esther Tyson's article 'Our Broken Children' in The Sunday Gleaner of October 5 is an indication that the nation is crying out for a revival. The ills of which she wrote did not mushroom overnight. We have come to the point where each of us needs to ask ourselves, 'what can I do to help?'

In Isaiah 3:12 we read, "As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths."

Prayer needed

Godly women in this nation must come together and 'seek God's face' in prayer and fasting if we are to rescue our children and the nation from the moral quagmire into which we have descended.

What does it profit ... if someone says he has faith but does not have works? - Thus also, faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

But someone will say, 'You have faith and I have works'; show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. (James 2:14, 17 and 18).

Prayer changes things. We must pray and fast.

I am, etc.,
