WESTERN BUREAU:
FORMER CHAMPIONS Frome Technical High School joined Rusea's as the inter-zone qualifiers from Zone B of the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup yesterday when they upstaged Merlene Ottey 7-1 to move out of the reach of third-placed Green Island.
Frome, with one outstanding game, are now on 22 points, while Green Island, who were inactive yesterday, are on 13 points.
But with just two outstanding games at their disposal, the best they can finish is on 19 points, which is not enough to catch Frome. Rusea's lead the group with an unassailable 31 points.
In their game at Jarrett Park, unbeaten Rusea's, who are already assured on winning the zone and its lone Ben Francis Knockout slot, clipped out-of-contention Anchovy High 2-1. The 'Russians' played with only five regular starters.
Old Harbour, the surprise package in Zone I, copped one of the group's two inter-zone places when they spanked Central 5-0 to move to 23 points. Old Harbour can only be caught for zone honours by second-placed Glenmuir, who blanked Kemps Hill 3-0 to move to 20 points.
