THE EDITOR, Sir:

Both the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and People's National Party (PNP) must desist from attacking each other in a negative and personal way. This does not foster unity. Creativity from both parties is what we need at this time. The Unites States of America is now experiencing a financial crisis which will have repercussions on our economy. Hence, both parties need to start working together. Now is not the time to point finger, but to work together to create economic stability and manage inflation.

Election

Let us learn from the Americans whose election is coming up shortly: The Republican and the Democratic parties came together to help in finding solutions to solve the financial crisis. We see that the challenge facing the country at this time is quite significant and will require cooperation and support from both the JLP and the PNP.

Suffice it to say, Jamaica is not merely PNP or JLP but a composite of people from diverse backgrounds with different belief systems. Hence, one should stop the confrontational politics and work together for the benefit of the country.
