Sister cities live it up
published: Friday | October 17, 2008

Denise Reid, Gleaner Writer

Councillor Homer Davis and his wife, Dr Carleene Davis, own the dance floor, last week Thursday, as they dance to hit after hit.

Members of the Atlanta-Montego Bay Sister Cities Committee had a fabulous time celebrating its 15th anniversary, last week Thursday. The fun took place at sea and the guests enjoyed the Montego Bay evening breeze and superb selections by the DJ.

The committee conducts an annual health mission supported by the St James Health Department, the Ministry of Health and the Western Regional Health Authority, all under the auspices of the St James Parish Council.

Consultations

This year, the group set up a clinic at the St John's Methodist Church, in Montego Bay, where they held consultations in various medical fields such as podiatry, gynaecology and obstetrics, dentistry, ophthalmology, paediatrics, among others.

During its one-week visit, the group saw more than 2000 patients.

Looking fabulous after a week of hard work, the members of the mission congregated at Pier 1 in Montego Bay for an evening of dinner and dance, courtesy of the St James Parish Council.

On-board, they enjoyed tasty hors d'oeuvres and danced up a storm, cheering their approval of reggae hits. A savoury dinner followed.

Among those present were Mayor of Montago Bay Charles Sinclair; councillor for Norwood division Mexine Bissesor; JTB'S Norma Taylor; chairperson of the Montego Bay chapter of the health mission, Metty Scarlett-Jones; Vin Martin, honorary consul to Atlanta, and his wife, Hazel; ophthalmologist Dr Jerry King; Water Limousine's Alisha Fuller-Armah, and others.

Bartender Sheldon McLean cannot resist getting his groove on between serving the guests at the 15th anniversary party of the Atlanta Montego-Bay Sister Cities Committee, last week Thursday.

JTB's Norma Taylor is in her element and we have a photo to prove it. Taylor does the ska at a function to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Montego Bay-Atlanta Sister Cities mission last week Thursday, at Pier 1. - photos by Denise Reid
