THE EDITOR, Sir: Every evening, a lot of people go straight home and detain themselves out of fear. They choose their routes carefully and they avoid certain places. The problem is that nowhere is safe these days.

The Editor, Sir: Sarah Newland Martin mentioned in the article ('No mountain too high', October 14) how hurt she was that some of the people she grew up with have not been able to cope, but she obviously does not realise the assets she has, which they may not have.
Reorganise JP system
THE EDITOR, Sir: Her Majesty's Justice of the Peace is exactly what the title says. These funcitonaries represent the Queen and administer justice, on her behalf, over their hamlet, village or town. Today, things have changed.
