Ken's Wildflower, Colours battleDefending champions Kens Wildflower and Colours International will do battle in one of two semi-finals in the Petcom/MegaMart Portmore Metropolitan League tomorrow at Kens Wildflower sports ground.
The second semi-final, scheduled for the Bridgeport sports ground, pits Portsmouth against the MegaMart Development Squad, a team made up mainly Under-19 players in the municipality.
Both games begin at 11 a.m.
Last Sunday, Kens Wildflower topped the preliminary rounds with 18 points after defeating Colours International by five wickets at Bridgeport sports ground.
Scores: Colours 119 all out in 26.5 overs (Troyan Ingram 24, Amandra Morris 20; Marlon Hoilett 2-7, David Morgan 2-19, Omar Williams 2-21); Kens Wildflower 120-5 off 26 overs (Robert Cato 36, David Morgan 27 not out).
Portsmouth finished second with 16 points after beating Reids Pen by 65 runs at Lime Tree Oval.
Scores: Portsmouth 181-6 off 35 overs (Wavell Hinds, 62, Horace Stevens 32 not out; Dwight Patterson 2-26, Ryan Francis 2-39). Reids Pen 116 all out, 26.1 overs (Jermaine Gordon 31, Ryan Francis 27; Hinds 4-10, Delbert Gayle 2-21).
At Kens Wildflower sports ground, Belmont defeated Washington CC by seven wickets.

'Bulla' and 'Bumpy' to face off
Veterans O'Connor 'Bulla' McLeod and Glenroy 'Bumpy' Beckford have been added to the Saturday Nite Fights dubbed Undisputed pro-am boxing card to be staged at Moneague College campus, Moneague, St Ann, on October 25.
McLeod and Beckford will face each other in a lightweight contest as the second professional bout on the bill.
O'Connor, who fights out of the Stanley Couch Gym, has been around the game for a long time, having appeared on a number shows staged in the 1990s. Beckford of Hard Knocks is relatively new to the professional circuit with four fights to his record.
Beckford joins his gym mate Lloyd Punisher Smith on the nights card. Smith will feature in the main event where he will take on Patrick Cutlass Miller.
To add the evenings attractions, former world top-10 rated heavyweight Donovan Razor Ruddock will be the special guest at ringside as he seeks to do his part in inspiring the next generation of Jamaican pugilists.
Veteran entertainer George Nooks will bring added spice to the proceedings. The undercard will see the sixth event in the Burger King Amateur series taking the spotlight.
Starlight, Petrol secure victories
Starlight defeated Tank Lane 3-2 at the sponsors complex in Oracabessa, St Mary, as action in the James Bond Beach (JBB) seven-a-side football competition continued this week.
Gleneisha Hinds (15th), Richard Lewin (21st) and Dwayne Howell (fifth) were the goalscorers for the winners.
James White scored a brace for the losers, netting from the penalty spot in the 18th minute and from an open play in the 23rd.
In another match, Petrol of Hamilton Mountain edged Spring Head 3-2. Garnet Henry, Renardo Miller and Michael Marshall scored in the 24th, 35th and 67th minutes, respectively, for the winning team.
Spring Heads goals came from Collin Ferron in the seventh minute and Wendell Stewart in the 70th.
Train The Trainers clinics on this month
The MultiCare Foundations Train The Trainers netball and volleyball clinics for physical education teachers are set to take place this month.
The annual series kicks off with the MultiCare Train The Trainers netball clinic on October 22 and continues with the MultiCare Train The Trainers volleyball clinic on October 28.
The clinics are used as preparation for the upcoming MultiCare Inter-Schools volleyball and netball competitions which are scheduled for next month, along with the football competition.
Both clinics are open to physical education teachers from the 31 MultiCare-assisted schools and incorporate theoretical and practical aspects of each game.
MultiCare Train The Trainers clinics for physical education teachers are staged as part of the MultiCare Foundation sports programme in keeping with the foundations mandate to enhance the education process in the MultiCare-assisted schools.
Lititz/Comma Pen, Quick Step win
Defending champions Lititz/Comma Pen trounced Mulgrave by 79 runs to start the defence of their title as Social Development Commission 20/20 community cricket champions.
The match, played last Sunday at Appleton Sports Club, saw Lititz/Comma Pen made 153 for seven off their allotted 20 overs. Ziggy Levy top-scored with 39.
Mulgrave tried to put a fight but could not match the firepower of Howard Fairman, who ended with 3-11, Levy 2-10; Troy Powell 2-10 and Algrave Johnson 2-13.
Mulgrave were bowled out for 74.
In the venues opening game, Quick Step defeated Appleton by 42 runs. Quick Step batted first and scored 85 all out in 18.4 overs while Appleton could only muster 43.
Alpart sports programme
The Alumina Partners of Jamaica (Alpart) 2008/09 schools sports development programme for all-age and primary schools in the Essex Valley area is set to get under way this month.
The programme was recently launched by the companys Public Relations Manager Lance Neita.
In outlining the programme, Neita said the programme will kick off with football for the Under-12 and Under-15 boys on October 22.
Matches will be played at selected grounds in Cheapside, New Forest and Myersville. The final will be played at Alpart Sports Club on November 21. New Forest are the Under-12 and Under-14 defending champions.
Wray & Nephew skittles series
Rowes Strikers and House of Peace secured final spots in the Jamaica Skittles Federation, Wray and Nephew Premier and Major League skittles competitions, respectively, with identical 6-3 wins over Cherrys Strikers and The Dip during Sundays semi-final round matches at the Mercury Sports Bar in St Catherine.
Cherrys Strikers, one of the preseason favourites, were heavily favoured to get the better of their opponents, but Rowes Strikers had other ideas and took the fight to their opponents with gusto.
Bolstered by clinical skittles from their front-line players, Rowes Strikers sprinted into a 5-0 lead to put their more fancied rivals on the back foot.
Rowes Strikers will now meet Eastern All-Stars in tomorrows final at the JPS Sports Club.
In the Major League encounter, House of Peace erased a 1-0 deficit to lead 4-1 before going on to take the honours 6-3.
Their opponents in the October 26 final at JPS Sports Club will be Waltham Strikers, who defeated Mr C in last weeks semi-finals.
Netball at Barbican beach today

The National Commercial Bank-sponsored beach netball tournament is set for today on the Barbican Sands.
According to a release from the sponsors, the concept of playing netball on sand is new and becoming increasingly popular.
This will be the first time that a beach netball tournament will be played in Jamaica, said the release.
Beach netball is a fast-moving game for teams of five players and was designed with as few stoppages for rule infringements as possible. As with beach volleyball, the players will be attired in beachwear.
Netball teams will vie for prizes with the first-place team walking away with $25,000. The tournament promises to be an exciting family event with fun activities and exciting prizes are planned.
