Sexy vs Creepy: Cellphone no-nos
published: Saturday | October 25, 2008

Diandra Allen, Gleaner Writer

Sexy: Calling someone on his or her lunch break. This is the time designated for chit-chat, but you should be considerate. Don't spend slather the entire time in blather.

Creepy: Calling a friend during peak hours for a detailed rundown on Days of Our Lives or some other soap you missed. That's off limits. You don't need to call for that sort of petty stuff. If you are going to make the call, shout someone who's always home.

Sexy: Calling someone at a moderate home time. Maybe it would be best to call someone between the hours of 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Creepy: Ringing a friend extremely late to have a casual conversation. Despite the fact that some phone companies have off-peak calling benefits, don't overuse this service and become a nuisance to others.

Sexy: So you are low on credit and you want someone to call you. Try not to send more than two 'please-call-mes'.

Creepy: Sending a friend a never-ending barrage of please-call-mes or messages soliciting credit is downright rude and annoying. The person must have got the idea after the first five messages.

Sexy: Having a partner that respects your privacy when someone calls you. Some partners, while handing you the mobile, like to peek at the screen to see who is calling.

Creepy: A partner who browses through your phone directory to find out how many persons called you and who you've called and text-messaged.

Sexy: If you're on public transportation and want to nod to cool music on your iPod, it's considerate to use earphones to listen to your music.

Creepy: Playing music on your cellphone in public transportation such as taxis or buses. It is annoying, especially to fellow commuters who just want some peace and quiet.
