In an uber-romantic ceremony, set idyllically against the backdrop of a well-manicured lawn, softly lapping waves and the early twinges of twilight at Sunset Beach Resort and Spa in Montego Bay, Western Mirror's Assistant Editor Nashun Ricketts, exchanged vows with his sweetheart of three years, Dianne Salter.
Their perfect day was one of undeniable romance. August 23, was the zenith of what had begun with another celebration of love in 2005.
Raging flame
"We actually met in 2001 while at the Montego Bay Community College, but we were both in other relationships. We stayed friends, and it was through helping me create a presentation for my parents' 25th wedding anniversary that Nashun and I realised that we really liked each other," said the new Mrs Ricketts.
Since that first flick of affection, their love burst into a raging flame, fanned by mutual admiration for each other's personalities.
According to Nashun, he loves that, "she's a fighter, knows what she wants, has big dreams and goals. She is very mature and responsible and quite open-minded".
Attraction
His feelings are mirrored by Dianne who proclaims she is drawn to him because he's "driven to do things and succeed, he's very ambitious and mature. He's considerate and we can talk about anything. He's very bubbly, loves his family and church."
Their special bond was solidified by Salter's father, Reverend Kenroy Salter, who officiated the ceremony witnessed by over 70 of the newly-weds' family and close friends.
The 23 year olds were aided on their special day by maid of honour Sherie Salter, best man Ricardo Patterson and bridesmaids Nicole Ricketts-Gayle, Kemesha Kelly and Shennae Johnson. Groomsmen; Chris-Anthony Salter, Sean-Michael Salter and Ronique Ricketts.
