Students attending Kingston College (KC) now have a building for multi-purpose activities. The Kingston College Old Boys' Association (KCOBA) on Friday officially opened the facility at a dedication ceremony on the school's Melbourne campus.
The project, which started in 2002, was conceptualised by staff members at KC and members of the KCOBA.
The building was originally intended to house the breakfast programme at the school, which at the time was being housed in a bus.
Changing room
Now, the facility will be used for social programmes, classes, meetings and as a changing room for the school's teams.
Lack of funding
Because of the lack of funding, the construction of the building was halted. Assistance was sought from the overseas chapters of the KCOBA.
The Miami, New York, Atlanta and Canada chapters were instrumental in the completion of the building.
Audley Hewitt from the Miami chapter and Robert Kelly from the New York chapter were instrumental in the project.
Hewitt and Kelly were presented with plaques of appreciation during the dedication ceremony.
