Duhaney Park knockout Cavalier
published: Monday | October 27, 2008

Duhaney Park clipped rivals Cavalier to advance to the third round of the Western Union KSAFA Jackie Bell KO competition, following a 1-0 win at the Sherwin Williams field in Duhaney Park yesterday.

In an intense battle between teams that have faced each other on numerous occasions, Tyrone Crossfield separated the teams, who will renew their rivalry when the Super League gets under way, with the all-important goal in the 85th minute.

In other games, the University of the West Indies continued their excellent run of form in the competition when they beat Pembroke Hall 4-1. Following an early goal by Terry Allen in the third minute, the home team never looked back. Allen struck again in the 37th minute, before Jeffrey Brown sealed the deal with goals in the 43rd and 82nd minutes.

Lincoln Meeks scored Pembroke Hall's lone goal in the 60th minute.

Seasoned Super League competitors Bull Bay gave recently-promoted Real Mona a taste of what life could be like in local football's second tier championship, with a 2-0 win at Bull Pen.

Rollin Francis netted for the home team in the 14th minute, before Kemel Mullings doubled the score in the 31st.

In the day's other game, Mo-lynes United clipped Central Kingston 1-0 at St George's College's Winchester Park, courtesy of a 34th minute strike from Keino Simpson.

The competition is set to continue tomorrow, with four games scheduled. Whitfield Town will face former Premier League team Constant Spring at St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS), Shortwood host Meadforest at Shortwood, Seaview Gardens tackle the Jamaica Defence Force at Seaview, while the University of Technology (UTech) challenge Rae Town at UTech. Match time is 3 p.m.
