Seaga right re US election & Jamaica
published: Tuesday | October 28, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I believe that one of the only smart Jamaicans left is Edward Seaga when it comes to the situation of the American election. I hate to say so but he is the only one who I have heard state the fact. Barack O. has no interest in Jamaica. Oh yes, he wants your vote for his purpose. To vote for O. is a patriotic thing to do if one's only reason is race when one votes. Look at the issues and think, but you cannot say that out loud or you may not live to see another day.

The McCain camp is not going to look at any immigrant nation if it wins because the immigrant nations have betrayed him. His party almost rejected him because he supported amnesty for them. Yet, they are voting about 80 to 20 per cent for O. More important, we have no leverage when we vote so blindly. We become like the voting block of African-Americans in America. Now, it is not to say that the Republican Party is to blame, but we are also acting against our own interest in the way we vote.

Christian culture

How many know that the current Democratic ticket believes in gay marriage; granted it is hidden as 'civil union' I thought that such a belief would chase any Jamaican to the hills. Their votes would have been totally denied because of our Christian culture and background. Remember Colin Powell? His parents were Jamaicans, at least one of them. Can anyone tell me one mention from him on Jamaica's behalf while he was in his powerful positions, let alone a stretched out hand to help at any time?

I am, etc.,
