Customs clean-up

The matter of corruption at customs robbing the Government of tax revenue requires a greater level of concentration and strategies of correction. For too long, persons have been crying foul on customs processing.

I have had experiences and heard tons of testimony about individuals and companies losing their belongings through processing at the customs. Just recently the company I work for imported 23 cartons from a supplier and three have been confirmed to have been tampered with and inner-cartons stolen. Since Mr Walker has this aggressive action plan for customs operation, and since he wants to clean house, he should ensure that the broom sweeps all four corners of the room in order to restore confidence in the system.

Revive AMC outlets

In the '70s, the government of the day introduced the farmers markets which were known as AMCs, where farmers products such as yams, bananas, potatoes, cabbage and many more seasons and ground provisions were purchased by the state and sold islandwide by these AMC outlets.

This initiative provided a ready market for the farmers, giving them the confidence to plant their produce. It also provided consumers with easy access to these produce. It took away the need for hustling middle men making huge profits from the farmers' toil. Bring back the AMC outlets, especially now when food security is an issue that must be addressed.

Gangster music

I am writing this letter in reaction to your article referring to 'gangster music'. I can tell you, without hesitation, that so-called 'gangster music' is directly related to violence and crime. I have actually been a producer of gangster music for the last 10 years, but I am now seeing the light.

A cousin of mine actually pointed it out to me years ago, but I was blind to the truth for some time ... . There are only two types of music..there is God's music and there is the devil's music. Good over evil. Positive or negative. No in-between. The sooner that our singers, musicians and producers come to this realisation, the better off we will all be. "Positive vibration yeah ... positive!" (Marley)
