For 30 years, Pulse has led the charge in the discovery and development of the region's most successful international modelling stars. This year the beat continues with the agency's major search engine, the Caribbean Model Search (CMS) which has grown to include the reality TV series.
The programme documents the journey of 22 model hopefuls competing for a shot at the Caribbean's next Supermodel title.
Eliminations continue weekly until there is one model left standing. Here the beauties explore some of their interests and reasons for signing up for the CMS competition.
Jelissa Myers
Jelissa Myers
Height: 5' 8.5'
Age: 16 years
Jelissa Myers is determination personified. She lives by the adage that "if you want something bad enough, you should be prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve it."
During the CMS Live show just minutes before she was due on stage, Jelissa lost her footing and sprained her ankle. Sitting in the audience, you would have never noticed she was in pain as the tenacious teen braved her tears and confidently strut her stuff on-stage all while wearing heels 3 inches high.
"I wanted to be a part of the CMS Reality series so I did what any good performer would have done, kept the show going even though my ankle was screaming not to."
The CMS stage isn't the only one the St Catherine native frequents. She is currently a member of the Portmore Dancers Integrated Cultural Expression and is pursuing Performing Arts - Dance at the CXC level at the Bridgeport High School.
Shereece Cowan
Sherece Cowan
Height: 5' 9'
Age: 18 years
A self professed wiz in the kitchen, Sherece is definitely looking to heat it up on the CMS runway this season. "Style is a person's material and immaterial expression of their personality and my style is what sets me apart from these other girls." says the bubbly St Elizabeth native.
Sherece is attending the University of the West Indies where she studies General Management.
Racquel Smith
Racquel Smith
Height: 5' 11'
Age: 18 years
The straight-talking Racquel Smith is also a comedienne, of sorts. She delights in making other people happy with her pleasant personality. But, she is also quick to point out that she does not mince words when she is cross.
"I think the judges picked me because I have a winning personality, the kind of personality that would attract a world fan base," Racquel says.
In 10 years, Racquel hopes to have achieved major success in fashion as well as open her own cosmetology store. "Fashion is my life but cosmetology will always be my first love. I want to use the money I make from modelling to start my own business."
