The historic 17th Century Rose Hall Great House was the venue selected by Montego Bay's most celebrated woman, Michele Rollins, to host the preparatory team that came to the island recently to finalise the itinerary for Spanish monarchs Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia.
The couple will visit Jamaica from December 2 to 4. It is likely that the royal couple will arrive in Kingston, where they will spend the afternoon of the second and morning of the third, ending their trip in Montego Bay the following day. With a number of recently opened Spanish hotels set for inauguration, King Juan Carlos is expected to take part in ceremonies, namely Fuerte Hotel Group's Seawind Key at Montego Freeport, Phases Two and Three at Iberostar plus Fiesta Hotel's Grand Palladium and Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton resorts.
Rollins and president of her Rose Hall Developments organisation, Peter Williams, showed off true Jamaican hospitality with the help of the Ritz Carlton Rose Hall's five diamond staff.
The big-wigs they hosted included Spanish Ambassador Jesús Silva and his wife Sara, director general for protocol in the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Javier Vallaure, communications chief of the Royal House, Fernando Moron, deputy head of mission, Alvaro Garcia Moreno, director general of external communications, Natividad Isabel Pena, Philipp and Fernanda Hofer, Susan Iminez and Frank Sondern, Senator Noel and Sharron Sloley, Dr Wykeham and Sheila McNeill, Tony and Sheila Hart, Jorge Sales, Michael McMorris and Fernando Bosque.
