Students participating in the InterBuzz Cyber Centre and book club in Montego Bay, St James.- ContributedInterBuzz Cyber Centre and Bookshop launched its leaders reading club recently at Bogue City Centre in Montego Bay.
Under the theme 'Today a reader, tomorrow a leader,' the book club is free and open to children from 5-12 years old.
It is headed by Tricia Russell, who has many years of experience and has successfully undertook the operations of a similar programme at a well-known book store in Jamaica for many years.
The book club meets every Saturday between 3 and 4 p.m., and offers many activities, including interactive reading, exciting games, storytelling and discussion of issues affecting the youth.
According to Mrs Russell, the club's main aim is to encourage reading, especially among boys, who do not read as often as they should.
"I've seen too many persons who graduate from high school seeking a job and being rejected because they are illiterate," she said.
