Thursdaytalk - HOTTEST TOPICS ON THE COCKTAIL CIRCUIT

What a surprise!

1 Some thought he was unemployable, especially after all his connections failed to see him land that cushy job in government. Imagine their surprise when he emerged as the point man for the project now in suspension. Some are wondering if it was a strategic move to try and get the wife, the god-daughter to perform.

Bad blood in the area

2 Since the entertainer moved into the neighbourhood, the neighbours have been complaining about the gangs of misfits that congregate at the front of his premises, causing some to fear for their well-being. In the meantime, the decision to rent the premises to him in the first place has led to a great deal of bad blood between the landlord and former friends who were his neighbours, as they now blame him for their woes.

Why choose him?

3 Some of the suppliers and creditors are not convinced that the appointment is in the best interest of the organisation as they contend that, with his own business on the threshold of bankruptcy, what kind of leadership can he offer at this critical time, especially with no track record of success anywhere?

Resignation foran appointment

4 Seems some in the industry are concerned that the recent private sector resignation is to facilitate a public sector appointment.

Dust not settling on electric dispute

5 Story came to bump in the hills the other day, when the absentee-owner returned from Florida to find the reason behind his enormous electricity bills is the fact that at least one neighbour was hooked up to his power supply. Well, the dust is still to settle on this one, but so far, blows have been exchanged and there is talk of a quiet settlement to avoid the scandal.

Lobby on for fired ones

6 Seems like there is some lobbying going on to replace the recently fired one with the not so recently fired one.

How will they be paid for?

7 Some are more than a little concerned that, since the organisation had to seek financing to pay its staffers their salary the last time around, where are the funds coming from to facilitate new acquisitions?
