Same old, same old
published: Monday | November 17, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WE HAVE a saying in our country, 'same old, same old'. I think this is the unfortunate answer to why we, as a nation, cannot get better.

Q. Did we just a year ago elect a new government?

A. No, same old, same old.

Q. Gas prices are going down worldwide. Then why are we not seeing it on our utility bills?

A. Same old, same old.

Q. We pay education tax and then still have to pay for schooling our children. Where is the tax money?

A. Same old, same old.

Q. Where are all the guns and ammunition coming from, and who is paying for them?

A. Same old, same old.

Q. With the US dollar devaluing all over the world, why is it that our Jamaican dollar has started doing the same?

A. Same old, same old.

Q. Why is it that crime is on the increase? Now we are killing our children, our future?

A. Same old, same old.

It is time for us to realise that the same old, same old does not work. We want new blood and younger minds to lead us. Let us get rid of all the same old, same old and get people with new ideas to run our country. We always seem to get infections from America. I hope we will get infected by its politics also.

There are too many of our so-called leaders who have gone beyond their 'sell by' date and need to be taken off the shelves.

I am, etc.,
