THE EDITOR, Sir:Change. That is what is badly needed in Jamaica. Change from disrespect, change from hypocrisy, change from corruption, change from scoring political points, change from the practice of the main political parties, of employing persons who are politically affiliated. The job should be given to the person best qualified, change from sabotage in any shape or form to build this country into an acceptable commodity, that the world will respect, will mean support, and I mean support from all of us, not nightmares.
It can become reality
If all the above are recognised, then all other considerations can be achieved. For example, free education, a proper health-care system, a Registrar General's Department that we can be proud of, better service delivery from both the private and public sectors, etc. We are a people of immense talents, not only in athletics, but in all aspects of social life. If we leave it too late, we are going to be left behind. The world is changing fast. I implore you my people, Jamaica is the best country in the world in principle, let's all make it a reality.
Look at the recent case of kidnapping and rape. The most frightening thing is that the perpetrators actually telephoned someone to determine their fate. What have we become? Wake up, my people! This state of affairs cannot be allowed to continue.
I am, etc.,
