FTC wins lawsuit against Bent/Speare
published: Friday | November 28, 2008

The Fair Trading Commission (FTC) has won the lawsuit it filed against Bent/Speare Entertainment Limited.

The suit was filed after complaints that the company had advertised pre-sold tickets for the 2006 Welcome to Jamrock Concert for $3,000 but instead sold them for $3,500.

The FTC said at the time it received the complaints, it directed that Bent/Speare sell the pre-sold tickets at the advertised price.

The commission said Bent/Speare complied with the directive, but it still decided to pursue legal action.

According to the commission, in a consent order endorsed by the Supreme Court, Bent/Speare Entertainment has agreed to pay the FTC's costs.

Bent/Speare has also agreed to issue a public apology in The Gleaner.

Efforts to contact a repre-sentative from the entertainment company up to press time yesterday, were unsuccessful.
