Naseberry is among the fruit trees available at RADA offices islandwide.
Citizens are being implored to collect fruit trees - free of cost - from an agricultural parish office in a drive to boost food security.
The fruit trees are being distributed at the Rural Agri-cultural Development Authority parish offices across the island. The fruit trees being distributed include: garden cherry; dwarf June plum; soursop; sweetsop; dwarf cashew; coconut; dwarf naseberry; mango; avocado; breadfruit and lychee.
The Residential Fruit Tree Crop project was launched on Saturday by Agriculture Minister Dr Christopher Tufton at the ministry's office at Hope Gardens in St Andrew.
Funding
The project is being funded by the Government, Food For the Poor and private-sector companies at a cost of $120 million.
The fruit-tree project entails the distribution of approximately two million plants to householders, schools and public entities for the next three years.
The ministry has already distributed 29,000 trees as part of Labour Day activities. Another 21,400 plants are to be distributed islandwide from RADA parish offices.
