SPANISH TOWN, St Catherine:

THE JAMAICA Constabulary Force (JCF) has added 120 new cops to its ranks after a graduation exercise at its training college in Twickenham Park, St Catherine, yesterday.

During the graduation, the policemen and women were encouraged to return the JCF to the desired position of trust within society.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Jevene Bent implored the 107 men and 13 women to preserve their integrity in a society which has seen dozens of law-enforcement personnel being charged with corruption.

"While you are out there working, you will be tested, but I am asking that you use your dignity to keep above board and remember not to degrade anyone, as often as the person that you call 'boy' or 'gyal' is older than you," Bent said.

Guest speaker Major General Stewart Saunders, Jamaica Defence Force chief of defence staff, said they would be tested by criminal elements. At least 10 members of the JCF have been killed this year.
