A national challenge

The Editor, Sir:

What you have written in the Boxing Day editorial can be regarded as sound and sensible advice to the governing administration. It should of course be given serious and urgent consideration.

Your next essential step is to advise the Opposition of the constructive role it must play in the global crisis facing the country in its entirety. Most important, you should help prepare the nation for the harsh realities; so that whenever difficulties arise, good citizens will not be confused by nay-sayers, scaremongers and prophets of doom.

Jamaicans have proven in the past that when push comes to shove, we can mobilise and realise our potentialities, our promises and possibilities. We will quickly do so again, especially when we understand that the challenge is for all the people, not just the Government that we elected.

I am, etc.,
