The cost of gasolene
Published: Wednesday | December 31, 2008
THE EDITOR, Sir:
With the massive decrease in the cost of oil worldwide, I continue to be baffled by our gasolene prices still being so high. A gallon of gas in Florida can be purchased today for US$1.56 which by a simple mathematical exercise works out to approximately J$27.74 per litre. Yet, Jamaicans are required to pay at most gas stations in excess of J$55 per litre for the cheapest gas on the market. It is time for the Government and Petrojam to explain in simple language the reason for these prices.
