TAMPA BAY, Florida (CMC):

Trainer Kirk Ziadie had a double triumph while posting two of three Jamaican victories on Saturday's 11-race card at Tampa Bay Downs.

Ziadie, a former Tampa Bay champion, won the first and 11th races on the card, and the Jamaican jockey Andrew Ramgeet was also a winner, landing the second race.

After repeating as the Calder Meet's champion trainer for 2008, Ziadie is now the leading trainer at the 94-day Tampa Bay meet, which started on December 13 and ends on May 3.

Ziadie has seven wins so far in the season, to lead Lynn Scace and Gregory Griffith, who are joint second on five wins.

First win for trainer

The six-year-old gelding Expect Validity gave Ziadie his first win of the afternoon when he won the US$7,000 first race over 6-1/2 furlongs by five lengths as the 2-to-1 favourite.

Coming from off the pace under jockey Rosemary Homeister Jr., Expect Validity experienced traffic problems as he rushed forward in the homestretch, but found room when switched four wide and moved clear inside the last furlong to win easily in 1:18.07 seconds.

The 5-2 second favourite, Demagoguery, with Ramgeet aboard, was second.

Ziadie's three-year-old filly, Shea Stadium, won the US$10,000 11th race over six furlongs, again with Homeister astride.

Shea Stadium (2-1) stayed close to the early pace and finished fast, to win by a neck in 1:12.90.

Ramgeet got his win with the 3-5 favourite, Florida Jack Pot, in the US$14,000 second race over a mile and 40 yards.

Always with the leading group, the three-time Jamaica champion jockey pushed Florida Jack Pot to lead heading for the homestretch and stayed strong to win by three lengths in 1:41.78.

The win was Ramgeet's fifth of the current season and he is ninth in the jockeys' standings.
