This newspaper has been doing a great job of providing well-needed information over the years. However, in recent times, I have become increasingly concerned about the disparity in the reports offered by this and other media.

Unanswered questions

In the case of the accident which claimed a number of lives in Portland, the population is yet to know:

Did the driver of the truck reverse to give right of way to a car travelling in the opposite direction?

Did he swerve to avoid colliding with said car?

Did the road surface give way under the weight of the truck due to its proximity to the precipice?

It is my humble view that by now the answers to these questions should be available.

Will those in the know share with us? We, too, would like to know.
