JCDC food festival round-up

Otaheite apple pie by Latoya Anderson Wong won gold in central region festival.
Last month the curtain came down on The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission's Festival of Foods.
The final region in the island-wide festival comprised: Western (Westmoreland, St James, Hanover and Trelawny) and central regions (Manchester, St Elizabeth and Clarendon) for amateur chefs.
Both stagings were buzzing with creative food displays, competitions and tastings. Many students, especially those who study food and nutrition, participated in various categories of the competition including the mystery basket, napkin folding and table setting.
Here are some highlights from both shows.
Pumpkin swirl bread by the students of the Merlene Ottey High School won gold.
Chillaxing in ackee and saltfish by Sadie Pinkney won gold for Westmoreland.

Mango gateau by Varon England won gold for the parish of St James
Royal upside down otaheite pudding by Rosetta Falconer won gold.
Kyson Thompson's Excelsior cream crackers crust pie won gold in central region.
Icebox cake by Vanessa Anderson won gold in central region festival of foods held at Santa Cruz Community Centre in St Elizabeth.
