Ice cream to beat the heat
Published: Thursday | July 9, 2009
With a new range of flavours for the summer, here is ice cream without the guilt.
To beat the summer heat, Nestlé has added seven flavours of ice cream to its arsenal. These additions are naturally flavoured and have zero trans fat.
Nestlé's 1.42-litre tub is a rich, creamy, indulgent and affordable diary ice cream for the entire family. The product offers customers irresistible goodness and is designed to satisfy your taste buds and transform every ice cream occasion.
The new flavours are vanilla, strawberry, pralines and cream, neapolitan, chocolate, and cherry.

We had a tasting recently to see how the new flavours measured up. Here are some of the comments.
Very smooth and creamy. It does not give the impression that I am eating something healthy. After all, if ice cream becomes a health food, there is no point eating it, is there? I will definitely buy this one in all my favourite flavours.
Vanilla: It is like yoghurt, extremely smooth; it is just right, not too sweet, not too fresh.
The flavour is a bit tame and while I love the fact that it's a healthier 'type' of ice cream, I miss the sweetness that ice cream normally has. I also don't like the bitter aftertaste.
Strawberry: Smooth, light and not too sweet.
Very smooth and creamy, it is not too sweet so I like it.
Neapolitan: The flavour in this is pretty strong; just felt it needed some more sugar. I also don't like the bitter aftertaste.
Pralines and Cream: That crunchy mixture of nuts and sugar is too sweet. But for that, it is OK.
The taste grows on you. At first, I was disappointed that the "cream" was somewhat bland compared to other offerings on the market but the nuts saved the day. Gradually, however, I found it to be quite good.
Overall, a little better than good but not quite excellent.
