Residents in the upscale Upper Montrose Road community in St Andrew were left stunned Tuesday night, after gunmen shot and killed a visitor who was staying at a property in the area.

The dead man has been identified as 27-year-old Tiki Stardust Hunia, of Sheung Wan, Hong Kong.

Reports are that he was an international consultant on vacation in the island. Police said the shooting took place about 7:20 p.m.

According to the Constabulary Communication Network, Hunia, his wife and other persons were sitting in the yard when two men entered the premises. During a conversation with the group, one of the men pulled a handgun and robbed them of cash and cell-phones.

Hunia confronted the gunmen and was shot. He was taken to hospital where he died while being treated. The men escaped on foot. The other persons were unhurt.

Senior officers attached to the Major Investigation Task Force team have been brought in to probe the shooting death of the foreign national.
