Extradition politics
Published: Saturday | November 7, 2009
The Editor, Sir:
It is quite unprecedented that the name of any person being sought for extradition is released before the individual is apprehended. Why was Christopher 'Dudus' Coke's name released prematurely?
I don't think it is appropriate to try this particular case in the court of public opinion rather than through the legally constituted courts of Jamaica. There are persons who know better who are politicising the issue, disregarding the rules of natural justice. We must be careful of the precedents we set as they might come back to haunt us.
Allow the law to take its course and remember that hypocrisy and deception weave a tangled web.
I am, etc.,
