Gangster suspects surrender to cops

At least 11 of the 23 alleged major gangsters named by the police yesterday have turned themselves in.

Police sources yesterday confirmed that the alleged gangsters have been turning up at police stations having seen their names in the media.

Up to press time, the police did not name the persons who had turned themselves in.

However, one of the men, André Buchanan, otherwise called 'Mills' of Woodford Park, St Andrew, actually turned himself over to the cops at The Gleaner's North Street offices.

The handover was arranged after a Gleaner reporter was contacted by a source close to Buchanan.

The source expressed surprise that Buchanan had been named as a person of interest by the police, particularly as he was from a community which did not participate in the recent upheavals in Woodford Park.

Late Tuesday, the cops released a list of those at the top of their wanted list and issued an appeal for the men to turn themselves in.

The list included the man who reportedly heads the infamous Stinger gang, which operates out of sections of Maxfield Avenue, Ricardo 'Government' Wynter, and the alleged leader of Matthews Lane, Michealous 'Zeekie' Phipps, the son of incarcerated gang leader Donald 'Zekes' Phipps.
