For DMajor, it's been a long time coming. It's been a year since he recorded Formula, a song that had been getting a lot of positive feedback, but remained in the vault at Scikron/Big Yard until now.

When the song was released recently, Big Yard head honcho Robert Livingston explained that the rhythm on which the song was recorded was also a year old, but the timing of the release was crucial. It may have been frustrating for DMajor to have his song on hold for so long but the timing is everything, everything seems to be happening now.

Along with the release of Formula, DMajor has been experiencing a watershed moment in his young solo career. "I am relieved. I am excited. There have been a lot of good but mixed emotions. It's been about 10-11 months now since there was a teaser for this song on YouTube and people from all over have been hitting me up on Facebook and Twitter. A fan of mine on Twitter was like, 'Oh finally!' A lot of people have been giving me good feedback and they seem to love the song already, and is not even yet in full circulation but the feedback is immense and I am really excited about the single."

Frustrating

He admits that sometimes during the past year the wait was frustrating. "Sometimes (it was frustrating) because you have material that you believe in and you want out there and you're anxious because it's not easy to do work and have stuff and just have it there, but I guess everything is coming together now because Party Like It's Your Birthday (a collaboration with Richie Loop and Busy Signal), everywhere we perform or that song plays both local and abroad we get great response." The towering, braided, soulful singer believes Formula is a great complement to that song and makes him believe his career is on the right track.

The shoot for the Party Like It's Your Birthday video wrapped last week. The video, under the direction of Nordia Rose, was partly shot in one of Kingston's hottest nightclubs.

In the meantime, another song that was recorded several months ago is also set for release. The song I Want You that the singer describes as a party track for the ladies, is one that will add to his dance music catalogue.

As if that wasn't enough, DMajor has embarked on the RE-TV School Tour that has helped launch the careers of many local entertainers, including his colleague Busy Signal.

"This is a big platform for me," he said. Then there is the KLAS school tour that he is also looking forward to.

DMajor's voice is also being featured on Digicel's 4G commercials on radio. It's just another sign that this is the right time. "Personally, I am kind of on the throttle 100 per cent," he said.
