ONR Chief Meets with PSOJ
Chief Executive Officer of the Office of National Reconstruction (ONR) Danville Walker met with representatives from the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ) on September 28 to update them on the level of devastation outside the Corporate Area and the need for increased contribution to the Jamaica Hurricane Relief Fund.

Donation of £1000 to Relief Fund
Publishing House, Macmillan Caribbean along with Jamaican artist, Judy Ann Macmillan, who recently launched her book "My Jamaica" in London, will donate some £1000 pounds to the Jamaica Hurricane Relief Fund.

Assistance for the Burial of Hurricane Victims from Portland Cottage
The Ministry of Labour and Social Security will be assisting with the funeral expenses of six persons in Portland Cottage, Clarendon, who lost their lives during Hurricane Ivan. The total assistance package of 480,000 dollars will be provided, with each family receiving some 80,000 dollars.

According to the Ministry's Parish Manager, George Palmer, discussions were held with families of the deceased and, all funeral arrangements finalized. He noted that three funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 2 and, two will be buried on Sunday October 3, while the date for the remaining person was yet to be decided.
St. Thomas Health Department tackles Mosquito Problem
The St. Thomas Health Department has embarked on a campaign to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes resulting from the recent flood rains associated with hurricane Ivan. The department commenced oiling and fogging natural water bodies in Dalvey and Yallahs this week.

Persons are being urged to inform the department about areas of stagnant water in their communities, so that the necessary vector control measures can be taken.

Health Ministry provides alternative Health Centre for Residents of Manchester

With the Windsor Forest, Newport and Royal Flat Health Centres still out of operation the Ministry of Health is advising residents of Manchester to note the following arrangements.

Residents, who normally access Child Health, Family Planning and Postnatal Services at the Windsor Forest Health Centre, may use the Old England Health Centre. Child health, family planning and postnatal services will be offered on every first Monday and antenatal services on every first Friday.

Residents, who ordinarily use the Newport Clinic, may access the Mandeville Comprehensive Clinic to obtain food handlers' permits, child health, antenatal, postnatal, family planning services and medical services. The food handlers' service will be available on Mondays; child health on first, second and third Tuesdays; antenatal services on second, third and fourth Thursdays; and, postnatal on every fourth Tuesday; family planning services every Thursday.

Medical services for the usual Newport Clinic patrons may be accessed at the Cross Keys Health Centre on Wednesdays and, the Pratville Health Centre on Thursdays.

Residents who normally use the Royal Flats Health Centre may access antenatal care at the Mandeville Health Centre on first and third Tuesdays; child health on first and third Thursdays; and postnatal care on second Thursdays.

The Ministry of Health apologises for any inconvenience these new arrangements may cause.
