Ardenne High School Students contribute to Relief Fund
In a heart-warming act of generosity, another entity is about to give to the reconstruction efforts of the nation. Not a large corporation, nor a foreign government - but a high school with youngsters, who have willingly saved some of their lunch money to give something to their countrymen.

The students of Ardenne High School have collected some $110,000, which they will present to Chief Executive Officer of the Office of National Reconstruction, Danville Walker, during morning worship, on Tuesday October 19.

Principal of Ardenne High, Esther Tyson, who impressed upon the student body the importance of giving to the less fortunate, informed that the initial target was $100,000 to assist with the rebuilding efforts. The funds were collected over a period of three morning devotions.

NWA reopens two main roads in Clarendon and St. Thomas
The Sandy River to Macknie main road in Clarendon, which was closed late last month, has reopened to single-lane traffic. The National Works Agency (NWA) however, advises motorists to exercise caution while traversing the road, as repair works are still being carried out in that area, in an effort to restore total access to the thoroughfare.

The Petersfield to Yallahs main road via Danvers Pen in St. Thomas is also now open to single lane traffic. However, the Mahogany Vale to Windsor Forest road, is still closed to vehicular traffic. Pedestrians are advised to use the footbridge that is adjacent to the roadway.

In St. Thomas, the Hillside to Whitehall main road is also closed to vehicular traffic, but motorists can use the alternate route through the Spring Parish Council road into Whitehall.

Meanwhile, the Agency has stated that the Lucky Hill to Sandwood main road in St. Mary and Cave Valley/Land Settlement Parish Council (PC) road in St. Ann are impassable because of breakaways to both roads. Also, the Gutter Head Parish Council road in Portland is blocked by land slippage, and is still closed to vehicular traffic. Motorists travelling to Sandwood from Lucky Hill may use the route through Two River to Freetown and into Sandwood.
