POLITICAL OMBUDSMAN, Bishop Herro Blair, has ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the acquisition, policy guidelines and subsequent vandalism relating to the North West St. Ann constituency office of the Member of Parliament. A release yesterday from the Office of the Ombudsman said that this would be done with a view to making the necessary recommendations to Government which could help to avert or alleviate any similar problem. And Deputy Leader of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), Audley Shaw, has called on the General Secretary of the People's National Party (PNP), Maxine Henry-Wilson, to apologise to Verna Parchment, Member of Parliament (MP) for North West St. Ann, "for the disgraceful destruction of the MP's Constituency Office in Brown's Town, which has finally been handed over to her." In making the call, Mr. Shaw noted that on entering the building, Mrs. Parchment noted that a number of fixtures were missing, including five interior doors, two toilet bowls, seven electrical sockets, four steel grills as well several items of furniture which were also reportedly removed. In the meantime, Ms. Parchment, earlier this week, condemned the trashing of the constituency office. This was reportedly done by PNP supporters. However, PNP Councillor for the Dry Harbour Division and candidate for the Brown's Town division, Ivan Anderson, denied that it was the work of PNP supporters.
