By Anthony Foster, Freelance Writer DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Kingston College boys (KC) defeated Wolmer's 5-2 and Campion College girls crushed Immaculate Conception 3-0 to capture the Urban Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association's (ISSA) table tennis titles at Immaculate yesterday. Despite not getting the start they wanted from Stephen Tapper, Kingston College bounced back with Earl Taylor, Kane Watson, Karl Hamilton and Nicardo Clarke winning all their matches in the middle for a 4-2 scoreline, which made sure the title went back to North Street. In the opening game, KC's Tapper was beaten 11-7, 11-4, 11-9 by Stephen Lan. However, Taylor pulled KC back on level terms when he defeated Kirk Carr 11-7, 11-2, 12-10. KC then took charge with Watson beating Klipon Howard 11-6, 11-3, 11-7; Hamilton defeating Joel Ramsay 13-11, 11-7, 11-8 while Clarke got the better of Ramon Cruise 11-9, 10-12, 11-4, 11-8. However, the determined Wolmer's fought hard enough to prevent a 6-1 beating when Jason Lynch stopped KC's Emmart Stewart 11-9, 12-10 and 11-4. The 'Purples' 5-2 victory was secured when 'last man' Kwane Gordon stopped Wolmer's Jason Markland 8-11, 11-9, 11-9, 14-12. In the girls' final, Campion College's Raquel Robinson defeated Simone Lee of Immaculate 11-6, 8-11, 13-11, 11-1 to set the pace for her school. Shadene Carr made sure Campion kept up the pressure on the hosts when she crushed Loren Henry 11-4, 11-5, 11-7. Joleen Soares then demonstrated her talent by dismissing the home girl Jodnne Yap 11-9, 11-8, 5-11, 11-5.
