WESTERN BUREAU:

BULL BAY snatched a well-deserved injury time equaliser against Village United on Wednesday to keep alive their slim hopes of survival in the Wray and Nephew National Premier League (NPL).

Dellon Wilson scored two minutes into extra time to give the Barrington 'Cobra' Gaynor coached team its second point in the third round and inched it closer to 10th placed Constant Spring.

Village, who had the lion's share of the chances, had taken the lead after 36 minutes through Teafore Bennett, who notched his ninth goal of the season.

Meanwhile at Jarrett Park in Montego Bay, Wadadah and Reno played to a 1-1 draw in a match-up of two teams fighting desperately against relegation. The point did nothing to change their places in the standings with Reno in ninth and Wadadah rooted at the bottom.

At Elleston-Wakeland, Gaynor was happy with the point, telling reporters after the game that "any point is a good point right now and that is what we came for".

Gaynor said they deserved the point after conceding that the home team had the better of the chances but wasted them. The former national winger said he thought they were competitive and added that he thinks they can avoid the drop if they can keep up their level of play.

PLACES UP FOR GRABS

Village's coach, Geoffrey Maxwell, was disappointed with his team's performance and hinted that places in the team may be up for grabs.

Maxwell, who took over the side earlier this year, said they "should have won the game by four or six goals based on the chances" but added that his team "did not come to win".

He said that despite the absence of a number of senior players including Shane Crawford, Winston Anglin and Donovan Ricketts, the team on the field should have been good enough to beat the second-to-last team in the standings.

Maxwell said he might have to go back to the team that played last season as the players he was using now did not appear to be aware of what was expected of them.
