Prayer of hope

INTERCESSIONS FOR PLANET EARTH

God is our refuge and strength
a very present help in trouble

Let us pray for the peace of the world, for areas
torn by strife, civil war, gang warfare,
for deliverance from confusion and tension.

HEAR US O LORD

Especially do we pray for the United States of America, for New York and Washington DC and for the cosmic and international catastrophe which has befallen them suddenly on September 11.

HEAR US O LORD

We pray for the President of the USA, for the Congress, the advisors, the security forces, the leaders of
co-operating nations and for those who have
worked tirelessly since Tuesday the eleventh.

HEAR US O LORD

We pray for the thousands who mourn the loss of
their loved ones, for widows and orphans and widowers, for parents and children whose families will never
be the same again.

HEAR US O LORD

Let us pray for countries far removed form America which are anxious and grieving for
the dead and the missing and the visitors who
were trapped in the vortex of the disaster.

HEAR US O LORD

We pray for the cruel and senseless Satanic and
hateful group which conceived this plot,
that their eyes may be opened and that
confessions may be made and justice will be done.

HEAR US O LORD

Let us pray for the Caribbean area from
which many lives have been lost
and for Jamaican homes where tears
and heartaches abound.

HEAR US O LORD

Let us pray for little children
who have viewed the scenes of horror
and death and spend sleepless nights.

HEAR US O LORD

We pray for all whose lives are dedicated
to service for others, doctors,
nurses, technicians, for those who
must provide utilities around the clock.

HEAR US O LORD

Let us pray that the Golden Rule may rule our lives, let us do to others as we would have others doing to us.

We cry to the Lord for deliverance from drug addiction, violence, political tribalism, hate and greed.

HEAR US O LORD

Let us pray for the victimised of our world,
for the unemployed, the underemployed and
the unemployable and for those who live
in the fear and shadow of the loss of jobs.

HEAR US O LORD

Let us pray for those who are maimed
and hospitalised by the international disaster
and accidents and we pray for the Salvation Army,
the Red Cross and the United Nations,
agencies at work in alleviation of hunger
and disaster and for the nomadic people
of the world who have no shelter and no home.

HEAR US O LORD

O Lord, we pray that the world may be a better place, that global war may be averted
and that justice, truth and peace may be
ours forever in Jamaica and around the world.

We bring the six billion people of the planet to
the Creator of the ends of the earth and pray
that righteousness may be the hallmark of our living.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

AMEN

- Rev. Cleve Grant
