Peace...live it every day
Denise Treasure, Staff Writer

TODAY IS Peace Day. This is the day we celebrate faith, hope and love. All across the island, Jamaicans are promoting the concept of peace, not war, as the solution to disagreements and misunderstandings. The theme this year is "Peace! Live it every day." The colour blue is the flagship colour for Peace Day, wear something blue to show your concurrence with what Peace Day signifies. Wear it proudly.

Children, especially in early childhood institutions, look forward to the activities, which are scheduled for today. This year's celebration, as in the past, will combine education and entertainment. The activities will kick off with a schedule programme in each school. Presentation of Peacemakers Awards will be made and, of course, the Governor-General Howard Cooke's peace message will be read at the various gatherings.

Whatever you choose to do this day, take some time out to make peace with yourself and with others. Be the first to offer a hand of compromise in human interactions, which are adversely affected by miscommunication and violence. Be the first to take a stand for PEACE.
